How can we help?

Referring Veterinarian Resources

  • Advanced Imaging Referral

Whether for an Ultrasound, MRI, or CT, your patient is overseen by a Veterinarian once it arrives, throughout the procedure, and examined prior to discharge. Ultrasounds and CTs can be booked Monday through Friday and MRI scans Tuesday through Thursday by a highly trained MRI technologist.

You and your client are notified as soon as your patient has recovered from sedation or anesthesia. As the referring Veterinarian, you are contacted first with results and then it is your choice if we contact the client. Pioneer will not solicit therapeutic plan to your client, unless you prefer to have therapeutics performed prior to the patient returning to your care, in which case, we are happy to help!

  • Emergency Referral

In an emergency or referral situation, calling our main number at (209) 847-5951 is the most efficient way to contact us. Our on-call doctors will call you back right away to discuss the case with you. In addition, our doctors are always available to consult with you whether or not you ultimately refer the patient in.

We will keep you apprised of the case’s progress and your desired intervals. We will recommend follow up visits with you, as the primary clinician and all discharge paperwork will be emailed upon the patient’s return home.

  • Surgery and Sport Medicine Referral

Surgery: We are happy to see all types of soft tissue and orthopedic surgery cases on referral and provide consultations with you and/or the client beforehand to ensure outcome and financial expectations are clear. We provide estimate for the entire expected hospital stay following surgical procedure to ensure your clients are not suprised by unexpected cost. We also have access to transitional boarding following hospitalization for bandaging and post-op care with local, knowledgable horsemen.

Sport Medicine: Don’t want to spend a whole day blocking and imaging? We are happy to see and consult on routine and complex lamenesses to help assist you in diagnostics and treatment or to just help make your practice more efficient.

  • Internal Medicine Referral

    COMING SOON

From Neonatal Maladjustment to chronic weight loss and everything in between, we are happy to consult or accept referrals on internal medicine cases. Dr. Paganelli works part time at Pioneer, but is happy to do consultations over the phone or via email with our rDVMs. If deemed necessary, she would then be happy to see them in hospital for procedures such as gastroscopy, brocheoalveolar lavage, blood work, spinal taps, and many others. She works closely with Dr. Brenner on cases that may require ultrasound as part of the diagnostic plan.
